Job Overview
 
The Digital Medical Editor plays a key role in managing the day-to-day activities of assigned tasks, overseeing the editing process from initial manuscript development to final HTML production while supporting departmental workflows of the Medscape Medical Affairs business.
 
This role requires:
  • Independently managing all aspects of assigned projects with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Applying client-specific style guidelines; FDA, ABPI, and EMA regulations; and AMA standards to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of deliverables.
  • Demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of product and client account requirements and nuances.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all materials throughout the project lifecycle.
This position requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results that align with client and organisational standards.
 
Responsibilities
  • Review, adapt, edit, copyedit, and proofread a variety of web-based materials, including banners, emails, web pages, learning modules, and rich media, targeting healthcare professionals to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to best practices for style, copy, graphics, design, layout, and audio/video.
  • Apply meticulous attention to detail, reviewing grammar, spelling, punctuation, and compliance with editorial guidelines.
  • Ensure all content aligns with medical, legal, and regulatory standards, maintaining compliance and integrity across deliverables.
  • Verify that all content meets Medscape Medical Affairs product specifications and adheres to established limitations and standards.
  • Compile project information into a client-friendly format for review purposes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing tasks effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate across departments to facilitate accurate, timely, and efficient project execution.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of editorial experience in a medical communications agency, pharmaceutical company, or pharmaceutical advertising or medical affairs agency, with a preference for experience in web-based content.
  • Proficient knowledge of AMA style and familiarity with scientific and medical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic editing tools including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace is highly desirable.
  • A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a Medicine/Health-related field is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of FDA, ABPI, and EMA regulations is preferred.
